Bestikset Demos ja Nikitas hengailevat Ateenan nudistirannoilla. Kalliot ovat kuumat ja Välimeri raikas, mutta tummat pilvet leijailevat Nikitasin yllä. Debyyttielokuvan käsikirjoitus pitäisi saada valmiiksi, ja tuottaja hengittää jo niskaan. Ystävät alkavat ideoimaan käsikirjoitusta Demosin parin vuoden takaisten rakkauskuvioiden pohjalta. Kesäisen sopan reseptiin kuuluivat ristiriitainen ero poikaystävästä, katkeransuloiset suhteet vanhempiin sekä pieni rescue-koira Carmen, joka vain haluaisi tulla rakastetuksi – aivan kuten jokainen meistä. Tarinasta leikataan aina takaisin rannalle, jossa ystävät metatasoilla leikitellen kommentoivat etenevää elokuvaa. Tuottaja kaipasi jotain “hauskaa, seksikästä, kreikkalaista”, ja juuri sitä me saamme.

Raikas queer-komedia on leppoisa kuin lomapäivä rantakalliolla, mutta samalla tärkeä kuvaus oman elämän merkityksellistämisestä tarinoiden kautta. Paljon jää myös kertomatta, niin elämässä kuin elokuvissakin. Ystävät ovat jättäneet näyttelijänurat taakseen liian heteroiden roolien takia. On kirjoitettava omat elokuvat! Sitten voi iskeä keskelle kaikkea musikaalikohtauksen – koko budjetti ei mene tekijänoikeuskuluihin, kun näyttelijät laulavat itse.

An astutely written and directed meta comedy about the nature of filmmaking, this Greek film playfully pokes fun at both itself and low-budget queer movies. Multiple layers of narrative feed together inventively to explore family relationships, friendships, romance, lust and even pet ownership for a group of 30-something guys. And as it knowingly grapples with issues of loyalty and masculinity, the film is warm, funny and very sexy. (Rich Cline, Shadows on the Wall)
